What you're looking at

The CRF450RX is what happens when Honda takes the CRF450R motocrosser and points it at the woods. Same 450cc liquid-cooled Unicam SOHC single — 96.0mm x 62.1mm, 13.5:1 — and the same aluminum twin-spar chassis, but the details all shift toward cross-country racing: an 18-inch rear wheel wearing Dunlop Geomax AT81s in place of the MX bike's 19-inch, a larger 2.1-gallon resin fuel tank, and softer enduro-oriented valving in the 49mm inverted Showa fork (12.2 inches of travel) and the Pro-Link Showa shock out back (12.1 inches).

The rest is the current-generation CRF450 hardware set. Hydraulic clutch with about ten percent lighter pull, electric start running a lithium-ion battery, HRC launch control, three-position Honda Selectable Torque Control, a close-ratio five-speed geared 13/50, a 260mm front disc with a twin-piston caliper, and black DID rims. It weighs 256 pounds ready to ride, carries a 37.7-inch seat, and comes in exactly one color, because it is a Honda dirt bike.

Why it matters

This is a GNCC or hare-scramble bike straight out of the crate, and that is genuinely rare — most riders build this bike out of a CRF450R with a tank, a rear wheel and a revalve, and spend real money doing it. Honda selling it assembled is the whole point of the RX.

Be clear-eyed about what you'd be taking delivery of, though. This is a closed-course competition machine: no lights, no DOT equipment, not street legal, and in most states you are looking at an OHV registration rather than a plate. Honda publishes no horsepower figure for it, and it does not need to — a modern 450 race engine is more motorcycle than most riders use, and the 37.7-inch seat height is not friendly to shorter legs. Maintenance is race-bike maintenance too: oil intervals measured in running hours, an air filter after basically every ride, and piston and valve service that arrives far sooner than anything on a trail bike. It is a fantastic prize, but it is a prize with a service schedule.

The fine print worth knowing

Start with the three states Honda's marketing does not mention. The rules open eligibility to "any of the fifty United States or the District of Columbia (excluding Rhode Island, New York, and Florida)" — so residents of RI, NY and FL cannot win this one at all.

On the money: the $9,999 approximate retail value in the rules is Honda's base MSRP, and Honda's own configurator adds a $600 destination charge on top of it. The rules then put the rest on you — "All federal, state and local taxes as well as all costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided are the sole responsibility of the winner" — and the winner has to return a W-9 alongside the affidavit and liability/publicity release. A roughly $10,000 prize is reportable income, so plan for a four-figure tax bill on a bike you did not pay for. There is no cash option to fall back on either: the prize "is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash." Honda also keeps the usual swap right — "Prize cannot be substituted except by Sponsor, which reserves the right to substitute a prize of comparable or greater value" — boilerplate, but worth knowing when one specific bike is the entire pitch.

Mechanically, entry is about as clean as sweepstakes get. It is free, there is nothing to buy, and the catch is simply that you get one shot: "Entrants will be limited to one (1) entry per person for the entire Sweepstakes Period." No daily grind, no entry bundles. Odds depend on how many eligible entries come in. The window runs from January 15, 2026 to approximately 11:00 PM EST on November 15, 2026, with a random drawing on or about November 16, 2026, and delivery to a Honda Powersports dealer near the winner's home four to six weeks after verification clears. American Honda Motor Co., Inc. is the sponsor; Progressive Casualty Insurance Company is the co-marketing partner, not the sponsor, and the rules let you opt in or out of hearing from either. A winners list is available by mailed request to the sponsor's Alpharetta, Georgia address, with requests due by December 15, 2026. Georgia law governs.

Why It's Special

The RX is the cross-country/off-road version of Honda's CRF450R motocrosser rather than a separate platform: same 450cc Unicam single and aluminum twin-spar frame, but retuned for hare scrambles and GNCC-style racing with an 18-inch rear wheel on Dunlop Geomax AT81 rubber instead of the MX bike's 19-inch, a larger 2.1-gallon resin tank, and softer enduro valving in the 49mm Showa fork and Pro-Link Showa shock. It is a closed-course competition machine — no lights and no DOT equipment — so it is not street legal; Honda's street-plateable 450 is the CRF450RL. Standard kit includes a hydraulic clutch with roughly ten percent lighter pull, electric start on a lithium-ion battery, HRC launch control, three-mode Honda Selectable Torque Control and black DID rims.

Our value estimate

$9,999

Honda states the prize value in its own rules: "One (1) Grand Prize is available to be awarded consisting of (1) 2026 Honda CRF450RX motorcycle. The total approximate retail value of grand prize is $9,999." That figure is exactly Honda's published base MSRP for the 2026 CRF450RX, so unlike a used-car giveaway there is no mileage or model-year haircut to apply here — this is a brand-new, zero-mile current-model-year unit handed over through a franchised dealer. Grounding it against what the bike actually transacts for: current-model-year Honda dirt bikes are advertised at MSRP by dealers, and Honda's own configurator adds a $600 destination charge on top of the $9,999, for $10,599 before tax, title, dealer setup and OHV registration. The winner pockets the bike, not the destination charge, so $9,999 is the honest number for the prize itself — but budget for the fact that the rules make every cost not specifically listed the winner's problem, and a roughly $10,000 prize is a reportable, W-9-backed tax event in the year it is awarded. There is no cash alternative: the rules state the prize "is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash."
