The bikes

Dirt Bike Channel's fall giveaway is two 300cc two-strokes, not one, and they are the channel's own machines rather than crated dealer stock.

The headline bike is a 2027 KTM 300 XC-W. It's worth being precise about which 300 this is: the XC-W is the off-road and enduro build — wide-ratio gearbox, softer spring rates, the setup meant for trail and technical riding — as opposed to the closer-ratio XC. It's fuel-injected, so there's no jetting to chase across elevation or temperature, which is most of the reason the 300 has quietly become the default answer in enduro.

Alongside it is a 2026 Sherco 300 SE Factory, and for most American riders that's the more interesting bike simply because almost nobody has ridden a Sherco. It's a low-volume European build with a thin US dealer network, and Factory is Sherco's up-spec trim.

Both got the same prep from the channel, which it values at roughly $1,000 apiece: a radiator fan, protection pieces, setup components, fresh tires, and parts it ran on-bike during reviews. That's an honest, unglamorous list — and on a hard-enduro 300, a fan is closer to mandatory than optional.

Why it matters

A 300 two-stroke is the bike that makes technical riding possible for mortals: light enough to pick up when it's on its side in a rut, torquey enough to lug up a rock step without a clutch-and-pray, and cheap enough to service that a mistake isn't a four-figure lesson. The XC-W is the version of that bike tuned for the woods rather than the desert.

The Sherco is the one you'd otherwise never get to try. Boutique brands live or die on dealer coverage, and in the US Sherco's is sparse — so the practical way to find out whether you get on with one is to win it. If you draw the member's pick, that's a genuine fork in the road, not a formality.

Honest caveats. These are review bikes, and the hours aren't published anywhere on the page. "New tires" is the tell: they've been ridden. A 300 two-stroke run on a content schedule accumulates real hours, so plan on a top-end at the normal interval rather than assuming you're taking delivery of a zero-hour machine. And neither of these is a street-legal dual-sport — they're off-road machines, so check what your state will actually title and register before you plan the rides.

The fine print worth knowing

You may not get to choose your bike. This is one drawing in name only — there are two, and the order matters. The page states it plainly: "One winner from this pool picks their bike first—KTM 300 XC-W or the Sherco 300 SE Factory—and the public drawing winner gets the remaining bike." The pool doing the picking is the members-only one, described as "Private. Members only. Roughly 700 people total," while the public drawing is the one with thousands of entries. In plain terms: enter through the public route and you're winning a bike, but not the bike — you take whatever the DBC Garage member winner passes on. Members are entered in both pools at once, which is the whole pitch of the membership.

Entry routes and the cap. Paid entries come three ways: a DBC Garage membership at $20 a month, merch bought from the channel's store, or orders placed through its Rocky Mountain ATV/MC affiliate link. The page doesn't publish an entries-per-dollar ratio, so how far a given purchase goes isn't stated. What is stated, in capitals: "LIMIT OF 2,000 ENTRIES PER PERSON/EMAIL ADDRESS" — that's a ceiling on any one entrant, not on the drawing.

The free route. The page carries the standard legend — "NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. PURCHASE OR PAYMENT DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING." The step-by-step no-purchase method is set out in the official rules, which the channel links from the giveaway page.

Eligibility. Fifty US states and DC, age of majority and up. Void elsewhere.

Taxes and handoff. A bike valued around $13,000 is taxable income to the winner, and a prize that size normally generates a 1099 — budget for federal and state tax in the spring, plus whatever it costs to get the bike from Utah to your garage.

Who's running it. The sweepstakes is run by Dirt Bike Channel, LLC, out of Saratoga Springs, Utah. Its official rules are hosted through a third-party sweepstakes-compliance service, and the channel maintains a public winners page naming more than twenty past winners from 2022 through 2026, with the drawings and handoffs recorded on video.

Why It's Special

Neither bike is a limited edition — both are current-catalogue enduro machines you can order from a dealer. The scarcity angle is the Sherco: the 300 SE Factory is a low-volume European build with a thin US dealer network, and most American riders have never thrown a leg over one, let alone owned one. The KTM 300 XC-W is the opposite — the most common serious 300 two-stroke in the country — but a 2027 model year this early in its run, already prepped with a fan and protection, is a bike you'd otherwise be waiting on a dealer allocation for.

Our value estimate

$13,000

Dirt Bike Channel publishes a per-bike value of $13,000 and shows its work on the page: $11,949 retail plus roughly $1,000 of build. The retail figure checks out on the KTM — dealers are listing the 2027 300 XC-W at exactly $11,949. The Sherco is, if anything, understated: the 2026 300 SE Factory carries a $12,290 MSRP plus a $650 destination charge, so the operator appears to have applied the KTM's number to both bikes. The headline figure here is anchored to the operator's $13,000 for the KTM, because one winner takes one bike; across both drawings the combined prize pool is about $26,000. The thing that would move this number is engine hours, and neither bike's hours are published. These are the channel's own review bikes, and a build list that includes "new tires" describes a machine that has been ridden. The used market brackets the downside: a 2023 300 XC-W with roughly 20 hours and a pipe is asking $9,200, a 2023 XC-W TPI $8,600, and a 2021 300 XCW $7,500. Because the hour reading is unpublished, those comps couldn't be matched to it — and only three low-hour XC-W examples were available to compare against at all. A current-model-year bike with a season of review hours and fresh setup parts realistically lands in the $11,000–$13,000 band, so treat $13,000 as the ceiling rather than the floor.
